UHF vs Revue: IPTV Players for Apple TV Compared
UHF and Revue both play IPTV playlists that you add on Apple TV. Neither app comes with channels. They are built for different needs:
- Choose UHF if you sign in with Xtream Codes, want movies and series next to live TV, or need catch-up, multiview, recording, or apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. UHF is free to use. UHF Pro adds sync and a few extras.
- Choose Revue if you watch carrier IPTV on Apple TV: multicast relayed by udpxy or rtp2httpd, RTSP, interlaced 1080i, and MP2, AC-3 or E-AC-3 audio. Revue has a 7-day free trial, then a one-time purchase.
We make Revue. The facts about UHF on this page come from getuhf.com and UHF’s App Store page, checked on October 12, 2026. Both apps change often, so check the App Store for current prices and features.

How much do UHF and Revue cost?
UHF is free to download and use. Since July 2026, the free version has no ads or watermarks. UHF calls this an experiment. UHF Pro adds instant sync between devices, an unlimited TV guide with reminders, Family Sharing, and a web console. In the US App Store, UHF Pro costs $1.99 a month, $17.99 a year, or $49.99 for lifetime access. UHF’s website lists only the monthly and yearly plans.
Revue is free to download, with a 7-day free trial. After the trial, you need Revue Pro to play channels. It is a one-time purchase: US$9.99 in the US, with local pricing in other App Store regions. There is no subscription. The DLNA cast receiver stays free after the trial.
If UHF’s free version has everything you need, it costs nothing. If you would pay for UHF Pro, Revue costs less than one year of it. After the trial, Revue can’t play channels without Revue Pro.
Sources and playlists
UHF accepts more kinds of sources: M3U playlists, Xtream Codes logins, and Plex, Jellyfin and Emby libraries. It puts live TV, movies and series in one app, with Trakt and TMDB integration.
Revue accepts M3U playlist addresses that start with http:// or https://. It doesn’t support Xtream Codes or Stalker logins, local playlist files, or movie and series libraries. If your service gives you an M3U address, Revue can use it. See Add your M3U playlist and EPG.
Carrier IPTV and long viewing sessions
This is where the two apps differ most. Revue has its own MPEG-TS engine for carrier and home IPTV:
- Multicast relayed to HTTP by udpxy or rtp2httpd, and RTSP unicast with MPEG-TS inside.
- Interlaced 1080i, decoded in the app.
- MP2, AC-3 and E-AC-3 audio.
- HLG HDR detected on each channel. With Match Content turned on in tvOS, your TV switches frame rate and dynamic range to match the channel.
- Clock drift correction and automatic reconnection, to keep sound and picture in sync over long sessions.
UHF’s website and App Store page don’t mention multicast relays, RTSP, 1080i, or MP2, AC-3 and E-AC-3 audio. That doesn’t mean these streams fail in UHF. It means you should test. Try the same channels in UHF’s free version and in Revue’s 7-day trial before you pay for either.
What UHF does that Revue doesn’t
- Apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it runs on Apple Vision Pro
- Xtream Codes, Plex, Jellyfin and Emby, with movies and series
- Catch-up and timeshift
- Recording, with UHF Server on a computer or NAS
- Multiview with up to 4 streams, and picture-in-picture
- Search across all playlists, a PIN lock, and category editing (rename, reorder, merge, hide)
- Multiple audio and subtitle tracks
- A built-in VPN client
- A full TV guide with reminders (Pro)
What Revue does that UHF doesn’t list
- Multicast relays, RTSP, interlaced 1080i and MP2 audio, as described above
- HLG HDR detection on each channel
- A DLNA cast receiver: cast a video from a DLNA app on your phone to the Apple TV, then pause and seek from the phone
- A Traditional Chinese interface
Privacy and sync
Neither app asks you to sign up. UHF creates an anonymous backup account automatically. With UHF Pro, it syncs playlists, favorites and watch activity between your devices through UHF’s backup service. UHF says that playlist addresses, user names and passwords are encrypted on your device with AES-256 before they are uploaded. UHF’s App Store privacy label lists no data linked to you and no tracking.
Revue has no accounts at all. Sources, playlists, favorites and preferences sync between your Apple TVs through your own iCloud account, and Vast Logic cannot read this data. Revue sends crash reports and anonymous usage statistics, which you can turn off in Settings › Diagnostics. See the privacy policy.
Which one should you choose?
| If you… | Choose |
|---|---|
| Sign in with Xtream Codes, or want movies and series | UHF |
| Need catch-up, recording or multiview | UHF |
| Also watch on iPhone, iPad or Mac | UHF |
| Want a free app, and the free features are enough | UHF |
| Watch carrier IPTV through udpxy, rtp2httpd or RTSP | Revue |
| Want documented support for 1080i channels and MP2 audio | Revue |
| Want to pay once, at a lower price ($9.99, against $49.99 for UHF Pro lifetime) | Revue |
| Want a Traditional Chinese interface | Revue |
You can also use both: UHF on your iPhone and iPad, and Revue for live channels on the Apple TV.
Moving from UHF to Revue
- Use the same M3U playlist address that you added to UHF. Revue can’t use an Xtream Codes login.
- In Revue, go to Settings › M3U Playlists (IPTV) › Add M3U Playlist and enter the address.
- For the program guide, enter your XMLTV address in Settings › Program Guide (EPG) › Source Address. Revue doesn’t read a guide address written inside the playlist, so enter it here.
- Favorites don’t move between apps. Add them again in Revue.
The full steps are in Add your M3U playlist and EPG. If a channel won’t play, see IPTV not working on Apple TV.
UHF is a product of Short Wavelength Applications SL. Revue is made by Vast Logic and is not affiliated with UHF.
